Motorcycle tour to southern Germany and Luxembourg – Day 1

Great first day, with long straight runs on the highway…

The route

The first stop is in Mannheim, Germany. The plan is to go here the fastest way; on the highway. With about 475km to go, it would be a long, tedious day.

Departure

Today we gathered in Hellendoorn, the Netherlands. We started with coffee and cake, and were excited about the upcoming trip. Our partners and children came by to wave us off.

Around 9:45 we got on our bikes, to embark on the adventure. The expected trip would be around 475 kilometers, with destination Mannheim, Germany. Here we will have a stopover, after which we will continue on day 2 to Neuenburg am Rhein, Germany.

The journey went fine, without any noticeable incidents. A few stops along the way to get fuel, stretch the legs and enlighten our sore butts. We arrived at your hotel in Mannheim around 17:45. After checking in and freshening up, it was time for our first well-deserved beer. Our first restaurant option turned out to be out of tables for our group, so we sat down at a small, cosy restaurant along a busy road.

We ended our evening in the hotel bar. Here we had a few more laughs and a few beers. All in all, a satisfying first day. Now to rest for the 2nd day. This one promises to be a bit more exciting with fewer kilometers, but more curves.
