PVM 10Y into a Husqvarna Nuda

Use Case: Fitting a White PVM 10Y Wheelset into a Husqvarna Nuda

Getting parts to fit where they were never intended to go is what custom building is all about. For this project, we took a set of white PVM 10Y wheels, originally engineered for a 2011 Yamaha R1, and adapted them to a 2012 Husqvarna Nuda.

Here is how we solved the engineering challenges to make this setup function perfectly.

The Specifications

  • The Wheels: White PVM 10Y wheelset, original fitment for a 2011 Yamaha R1.

  • The Bike: 2012 Husqvarna Nuda.

  • The Dimensions: The front wheel matches the original stock size. The rear wheel increased in width from a 180 to a 190 setup. With the tire height remaining at 55, the total circumference of the rear wheel increased.

The Engineering Challenge

The main goal was to adapt these specific wheels to the Nuda while handling the increased rear tire dimensions. We needed to ensure absolute precision by aligning the wheels perfectly with the centerline of the motorcycle. Once the wheels were centered, we had to align the brake discs and the sprocket to match the exact factory specifications of the bike.

The Practical Solution

To make everything line up safely and accurately, we machined several custom components.

  • Centerline Alignment: We used custom-machined wheel spacers to position both wheels perfectly in the center of the chassis.

  • Front Brake Alignment: We machined 1.5mm off the front brake disc carriers to align the discs correctly with the calipers.

  • Rear Brake Alignment: The stock dimensions did not allow for simple machining, so we engineered and machined a completely new rear brake disc carrier.

  • Sprocket Alignment: To get the chain alignment correct, we machined a custom spacer for the hub, moving the entire sprocket carrier 6mm outward.

Real-World Testing

Engineering solutions look good on paper, but they have to perform on the road. We put this setup through a rigorous testing process to ensure durability and safety.

  • Initial Test: A 15km shakedown run immediately after assembly showed zero issues.

  • Endurance Test: The following weekend, we took the bike for a 1,000km road trip through the German Eifel region.

The bike performed flawlessly through every corner, proving that the modifications are reliable under real riding conditions.

The Final Result

The combination of the striking white PVM wheels and the minimalist Husqvarna Nuda chassis creates an incredible visual balance. The multi spoke design completely transforms the look of the bike, giving it a much more aggressive and high performance stance.

Most importantly, the bike still rides exactly as a Nuda should. Despite the wider 190 rear tire and the slightly larger overall circumference, the motorcycle retains its predictable handling and solid road manners. There are no chain alignment issues, no brake drag, and no compromises on reliability. It is a bold visual upgrade that lets you enjoy the ride with complete peace of mind.
